Lily let her arms go tight around James, hugging him to her as he sank against her, his shoulders tight with emotion. Closing her eyes while she kept hold of him Lily hugged James in silence, letting him get out whatever he needed to get out.
"I can't imagine," she said gently after he pulled himself back together enough to speak again. "I wish Moony didn't keep me out of it, but," she tilted her head back and met James' eye, giving him a firm nod. "I'm happy you'll let me be here for you."
Lifting a hand she reached up enough to push his hair off of his forehead, her eyes narrowing a touch. "You can't copy my homework, but," with a final squeeze, she drew back from the embrace, tilting her head towards the table she had been sitting at. "Want a cup of tea and your notes at the very least?"
